Anybody know what kind of butterfly this is?

This pic was taken by my daughter's friend when they were visiting Iguazu Falls on the Argentina/Brazil border last year. They saw LOTS of butterflies: no idea what this one is!

I took this photo while walking along Fox Drive in Edmonton. It was a pretty windy day, and, from the looks of it, this little guy got the worst of the buffetting. That also made capturing this image a little more eventful...

"Annie Dillard believes we silenced the world when we agreed that the world wasn’t sacred. Most of us recognize this loss. The trees aren’t speaking to us anymore.
My own experience has been somewhat different. Nature has never been silent for me. Nature whispers in my ear all the time, and it is the same thin gover and over. It is not “Love.” It is not “Worship.” It is not “Psst! Dig here!”
Nature whispers, and sometimes shouts, “Beauty, beauty, beauty, beauty.”

We are beginning to explore the physics of beauty ...Collapse )

I am looking for pictures of the Burton Blue butterfly. I think it's a rare butterfly from South Africa- I could be wrong though. If anyone has any pics or know where I can find the, PLEASE let me know!

Or at least what its scientific name is. Thanks! :)

Butterfly plates - imported from Brazil [19 Apr 2005|09:45am]

erikagoo
Hello everyone,

I thought I'd post here and show you the artwork that my mom does with Brazilian butterflies. We have butterfly farms and we make plates made out of butterfly wings. WE DO NOT KILL THE BUTTERFLIES, we wait until they die naturally and we take them through an entire preservation treatment while we do the plates. We sell these plates to different retail stores in Florida and Los Angeles.

I thought I'd post a couple pictures in here if anyone is interested in seeing them. If you are interested in buying some, please contact me. I thought this would be a good place to post this artwork seeing its a butterfly community.

If this isnt allowed, my apologies in advance and feel free to remove.
